Military Diplomats’ Visit to Győr

Attachés, Deputy Attachés and Secretary interns preparing for the changes in the military diplomatic staff have visited this week the barracks of the HDF 12th Arrabona surface-to-air Missile (SAM) Regiment, where Lieutenant Colonel Tibor Matyi, Acting Commanding Officer welcomed the guests.

The future military diplomats are touring the subordinated units of the HDF Joint Force Command in order to bring up-to-date their existing knowledge on the current situation, capabilities of these units. The experts engaged in the international arena are representing the interests of the Hungarian Defence Forces (HDF) in the host country; accordingly they should have a broad vision, which is essential for the cultivation of the bi- and multilateral relationships.

Tibor Matyi, the Acting Commanding Officer of the Győr Barracks, in his a lecture on the regiment among others spoke about the core mission of the Missile Regiment, their system of tasks, the structure of the organisation, and their engagement in the Alliance and the mission. Lieutenant Colonel outlined this year’s main assignments ahead of the military organisation, laying a special emphasis on the Exercise Tobruq Legacy 2018 multinational surface based air defence (SBAD) tactical exercise to be held in Hungarian organisation.

Following the lecture, during the static demonstration, the guests got familiarised with the equipment in service with the unit, then went to the target recognition room, and viewed the ATLAS air-defence missile simulator. The program ended in the Team Museum, and in the Memorial Park.
