The Japanese Ambassador was Received by the Minister of Defence

Minister of Defence Dr. Tibor Benkő received Her Excellency Mrs. Sato Kuni, Japan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Hungary on an introductory visit, on Tuesday, July 24.

In the meeting Tibor Benkő pointed out that Hungary as a NATO member, stresses the importance of stepping up co-operation between Japan and the Alliance. It has been said that both Hungary and Japan are open for building and strengthening the military-to-military relations.

The Minister was saying that Japan, with which we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2019, has been a long-time strategic partner of Hungary in the Asian region, and highlighted that the active friendly relations in recent years created the opportunity for the organisation of several Japanese-Hungarian high-level meeting.

During the visit Tibor Benkő expressed his sincere sympathy and regret for the victims of the extreme weather conditions and the heavy rains triggered floods and landslides, and offered his deep condolences to the victims’ families.
