In accordance with Chapter X of the Vienna Document 2011 on Confidence- and Security-Building Measures (CSBMs) a Hungarian-led, multinational inspection team will carry out an inspection in South-Western Ukraine from 18 September 2017.

The inspection team is composed of the staff of the Hungarian MOD
Defence Policy Department, specialists from the “Visegrad Four" (V4)
countries (Czech Republic, Slovakia) and reinforced by Danish and
Canadian guest inspectors. Following the programme finalisation in
Odessa they will request and receive briefings from the representatives
of the Ukrainian military, internal security, National Guard units
deployed along the South and South-West part of Ukraine, and from the
representatives of local authorities. They plan to visit the
headquarters, the training- and firing ranges of the units.

The aim of the inspection is to assess the security situation in the
vicinity of the Crimean peninsula and along the Ukrainian-Moldavian
state border. This activity provides a good occasion to observe the
currently ongoing defence exercise in the host country.
