Hungarians Make Strategic-Level Training Proposal
Szöveg: MAT-3 | 2014. szeptember 20. 8:11Brig.-Gen. Harald Gante, the new commander of the Train Advise Assist Command North (TAAC-N) recently paid a short visit to the third rotation of the HDF Military Advisory Team (MAT-3) deployed in Afghanistan. The brigadier-general was briefed on the role of the Hungarian contingent in Afghanistan, its tasks, the challenges of advisory missions and the current status of the mentored brigades.
The leaders of the MAT-3 first informed the guest about the task system and structure of the Hungarian forces serving with ISAF and those of the contingent, the results achieved so far in the mission and the daily challenges of operational tasks. In addition, they discussed the status of two Afghan subunits mentored by the contingent, the 806th Afghan Border Police Brigade (ABP ZONE) and the 3rd Afghan National Civil Order Police (ANCOP) Brigade. The introduction of professional tasks concluded with a report on a strategic-level training proposal recently made by the MAT-3.
Brig.-Gen. Gante was looking forward to hearing this report, which enables, in a new and efficient system, the standardization and systematization of the training provided for the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) assigned to the ISAF Regional Command North (RC-N). In his report, the commander of the Hungarian contingent pointed out that the only way to achieve an effective breakthrough in the regional-level planning of Afghan training is to have the ANSF advisory teams work out the methods, contents, form and duration of this training in a comprehensive approach, which gives a unified interpretation to the commander’s training priorities.
The introduced concept and proposal gained the commander’s approval, and for this reason he ordered that the new plan be introduced to the staff of the TAAC-N and to all police and military advisory bodies. Only this new method can ensure that the training system of the ANSF forces achieves self-sustaining capability by the end of the Resolute Support mission, and that the training of the Afghan forces continues to be organized by training needs based on operational requirements.
In concluding his visit, Gen. Gante thanked the Hungarian soldiers for their dedicated and high level professional work. He expressed thanks to the contingent for having formulated – besides efficiently performing operational tasks – strategic-level standardization plans and proposals for Afghan capability development.
