Brig.-Gen. Christopher Cavoli, 7th Army Joint Multinational Training Command paid a three-day official visit to Hungary. On February 17, the first day of his visit, he conducted meetings in Székesfehérvár to discuss the possibilities of connecting the simulation systems (MARS, MARCUS) used in the Hungarian Defence Forces with the systems used in Germany.

Brig.-Gen. Christopher Cavoli arrived in Hungary at the invitation of Brig.-Gen. Dr. Gábor Böröndi, Land Forces Chief, HDF Joint Force Command (HDF JFC) and was received with military honors in Székesfehérvár.

At the plenary meeting – following a working lunch and a courtesy call to Maj.-Gen. Sándor Fucsku, Commander, HDF JFC –, the participants discussed the theoretical possibilities of synchronizing different simulation systems, which would enable the Hungarian Defence Forces to cost-effectively join a range of international exercises using the infrastructure and systems of the Simulation and Training Centre, which operates in the subordination of the HDF Bakony Combat Training Centre.

The American and Hungarian partners also discussed the combined exercises to be conducted in the coming years, such as Saber Junction 2015, which is scheduled to take place in this April.

Answering a question, Brig.-Gen. Gábor Böröndi told us that according to plans, around 350 Hungarian troops as well as BTR–80 and BTR–80/A combat vehicles equipped with MILES would participate in the exercise which is to take place in Hohenfels, Germany.
