Speaking at the ceremonial event, Brig.-Gen. Zoltán Gulyás, EUFOR Deputy Commander/Chief of Staff (DCOM/COS), Hungary’s Senior National Representative (SNR) welcomed the personnel of the Hungarian contingent and the invited guests. In his festive speech, he pointed out that the Hungarian troops have long been participating in the peacekeeping operation ALTHEA in the Balkans, and went on to say thanks for the support and the work of the Hungarian contingent in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
After the speech, Brig.-Gen. Zoltán Gulyás, Lajos Kohári, the acting Chargé d’ Affaires of the Hungarian Embassy to BiH, Col. Gyula Kovács, Col. Tibor Papp, Lt.-Col. Attila Horváth and Lt.-Col. Tamás Horváth pinned the medals on the Hungarian peacekeepers’ uniforms. The obverse of the medal is decorated with the stars of the European Union, while the reverse shows the text “Pro Pace Unum" (Together for Peace).
Following the traditions of the preceding troop rotations, the Hungarian contingent excelled at executing its tasks, and its performance earned praise from the superiors on several occasions.
