After six months of service, the mission of the 10th rotation of the HDF KFOR Contingent is nearing completion. The most conspicuous sign of the upcoming period of troop rotation was the medal parade held on July 28. At this event, the soldiers serving in the area of operations receive “For Peacekeeping” (Non-article 5) medals from NATO, with the word “Balkans” engraved on them, designating the mission area.

Over the past six months, the Hungarian “Charlie" company patrolled the area, manned checkpoints, gave standby duty services, carried out force protection tasks in the camp and conducted international training programs and exercises as well as tactical training sessions. The support element continuously provided the material-technical background for task execution, organized and secured events and, last but not least, repainted several combat vehicles.

The soldiers of the tenth rotation were also tasked in connection with Hungary’s expanding role in Kosovo. Working in the French-run Camp Novo Selo, close to the capital, Pristina, they had to create the conditions for accommodating another Hungarian maneuver company which is to arrive in the area of operations in August.
