The Budapest International Book Festival is a recognized event of the international world
of books as one of the important professional and cultural forums in the region. The festival
introduced new and modern exhibition spaces to attract visitors between 18 and 21 April
in Pavilions D and B of the Millennium Park, where more than 300 programs, 50,000
publications and about 300 new titles were presented to the guests. Besides the domestic
publishers, authors from 25 countries arrived to participate in Hungary’s most prestigious
book festival. In return for the 2013 large-scale event to be held in Italy, the Year of
Hungarian Culture, Italy was again the Guest of Honor of this year’s book festival. In addition
to the discount sales at the stands, the visitors had opportunity to personally meet several key
representatives of world literature during the “meet the author" panels, autographing sessions,
literary evenings, book premiers and presentations.

The Zrínyi Publishing House with a 60-plus year history offered quality publications at a
reduced price on its stand, written on topics like military history, military technology and
security policy. “We have received positive feedback from the civil audience. Our offer
includes both professional works with technical specifications and easy-to-read, historical
books in all military-related topics. For the first time this year, we are also selling mapping
publications as well", Edina Győr, the sales representative of the publishing house told us
about the books on display. The best-selling titles were the “Béke poraikra…" (Peace to
their ashes) which came out this year, the Don-kanyar/Don-Bend 1942–1943 and the Kis
magyar hadtörténet (Illustrated Military History of Hungary), whose English version was also
published recently. The stand of the Zrínyi Publishing House was set up in Pavilion B.

The book festival was open from 10:00 to 19:00 on Sunday, the closing day as well. Visitors
were entitled to use the entry tickets sold for HUF 500 as vouchers for purchase.
