NATO Senior Enlisted Leaders Meet in Germany

Szöveg: honvedelem.hu |  2016. szeptember 26. 5:45

This year the International Senior Enlisted Seminar (ISES) for NATO senior enlisted leaders took place at the bilateral American/German defence institution, the George C. Marshall Centre in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. During the event held between 10–16 September, the Hungarian Defence Forces were represented by HDF Command Sergeant Major István Kriston.

The seminar is organized every year by NATO Allied Command Operations (ACO), the Allied Command Transformation (ACT) and the United States European Command (EUCOM). It main goal is to successfully prepare the participating senior enlisted leaders for the continuously increasing complex challenges that NATO is facing. This year’s main theme was the fight against the Islamic State.

Running concurrent with the ISES – which was attended by 72 soldiers from 42 countries – the Senior Executive Seminar gave NATO’s senior enlisted leaders a deeper insight into the current global political and military issues.

Gen. Curtis M. Scaparotti, NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) of Allied Command Operations (ACO) held a lecture at ISES, in which he pointed out that the Alliance relies on the roles and responsibilities of NCO corps of NATO member countries in the interest of operational success.

He added that in the spirit of the NCO Strategy, NATO leaders are committed to develop the NCO systems in member countries where support is needed.

The seminar provided the participating NCOs with opportunities to broaden their knowledge and develop relationships. CSM István Kriston told us that the senior enlisted leaders serving at NATO commands are of the opinion that the NCO corps of Hungary – in view of the changes supported by the leadership of the Hungarian Defence Forces – ranks among the best ones in NATO.
