November Sporting Successes in Cyprus

The “UN Staff Day” was arranged at the Headquarters of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) on November 4. This day is celebrated in all missions at the same time by the employees of the world organisation.

On the occasion of the staff day, the personnel of the Peacekeeping Mission in Cyprus had opportunity to put their abilities and skills to the test at different sports competitions. From the service-members of the Hungarian contingent PL Roland Farkas as the member of international team of the Mobile Force Reserve (MFR) won the first place, while WO Norbert Szőke in the Force Military Police Unit (FMPU) got a bronze medal in the tug-of-war event.

The ‘15th Larnaca Race’ running competition was organised in the month of November, too, where four soldiers represented the Hungarian contingent. Staff Sergeant Tibor Kövér won the first place on a distance of 6000 meters in his age-group and category.
