Presentation on the Hungarian Air Force

The British International Quality & Productivity Centre recently organized the 10th Integrated Air and Missile Defence Conference in London, where the Hungarian Defence Forces were represented by two ground-based air defence (GBAD) specialists from the HDF Joint Force Command.

The three-day event provided the experts of the world’s leading defence industry companies and the military leaders of nations connected with the topic to share their experience in the light of rapidly changing air threats, work out standardized procedures and set the direction for developments in air and missile defence for the future.

Representing Hungary at the event, Lt.-Col. Tamás Huber, Acting Head of the Air Force Department at the HDF Joint Force Command gave a presentation on the structure of the Hungarian Air Force and the GBAD, their task system as well as the developments and procurements.

Lt.-Col. Huber talked about already achieved and future ambition levels in the field of air command and control, radar technology, fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, and the modernization of GBAD forces and assets in the Hungarian Defence Forces.

He also spoke about the series of multinational GBAD tactical exercises Tobruq Legacy, which is going to be a priority training event for Hungarian air defence artillerymen this year. In 2018, the main objective of the exercise to be held in Hungary will be the assistance and development of the conceptual and technical integration and interoperability of the GBAD units.
