The peacekeepers of the Portuguese–Hungarian KFOR Tactical Reserve Manoeuvre (KTM) Battalion recently demonstrated their readiness level again during a KFOR-level training exercise conducted at Camp Vrelo near Pristina, Kosovo.

Exercise Silver Saber is held twice every year with the aim of standardizing the crow riot control (CRC) techniques of the troop contributing nations serving in Kosovo. Furthermore, the exercise tests the cooperation of multinational forces in critical situations with each other and with other organizations including the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) and the local Kosovo Police.

Held for the second time this year, Exercise Silver Saber started with two days of theoretical and practical training sessions – including CRC practice – on the training grounds of Vrelo, and then the exercise took place, based on a fictitious scenario. Meeting the COMKFOR’s requirements, the participating nations were able to coordinate their activities, and the executing personnel carried out their mission effectively.

The peacekeepers of the Portuguese-led KTM – including the troops of the Hungarian Charlie Company – demonstrated their preparedness by standing their ground at KFOR level in a multinational situation.

Concurrent with Exercise Silver Saber, Delta Company of the Hungarian KFOR contingent – which is assigned to the Multinational Battle Group East (MNBG-E) – also participated in a CRC exercise together with a German company of the MNBG-E in Novo Selo. The commander of the US-led battalion was also satisfied with the Hungarian troops’ performance.
