Smiling Children – Smiling Soldiers
Szöveg: HUN PRT-13 Public Affairs NCO | 2013. február 22. 16:11The 13th rotation of the HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT-13), the Montenegrin platoon and the camp-based police organization (European Union Police Mission, EUPOL) hosted in January and February the children of those working in Camp Pannonia and little residents of the Pol-e Khomri orphanage. First Lieutenant V., the CIMIC officer of the HUN PRT was responsible for organizing the programs.
On the first occasion, Col. Antal Sipos, the commander of the 13th PRT rotation welcomed
the children and their parents present at the event. The little ones were happy to use the area
designated for them, and gladly ate the sweets that they were served with.
On the next occasion the residents of the local orphanage visited the camp, where Lt.-Col. V.,
the deputy commander of the PRT received them. The deputy director for social affairs and
the director of the orphanage thanked the PRT for the invitation and for the great many gifts
it presented to the children on this occasion too, just like in the last six years. The boys and
girls were impatiently waiting for their turn to take the floor behind the microphone. Some of
them expressed their gratitude by reciting poems, while others by singing. At the end of the
day, carrying their gift-crammed backpacks, the little residents of the orphanage were happily
waving goodbye to the soldiers.
Some days later, the soldiers invited the local camp guards’
children for a visit. The fathers proudly accompanied their children to a tent where they were
presented with winter shoes and coats bought by the Montenegrin platoon and toys donated
by the Hungarian Provincial Reconstruction Team.
Children and parents, policemen and soldiers were playing together, and although they have
different nationalities, they form a common, large “family".
