“Could you show me your job description?”
Szöveg: honvedelem.hu | 2013. február 22. 16:32Such questions are often asked by students during the live exercise of the NATO Medical Evaluation (MEDEVAL) Course organized for the 7th time by the NATO Centre of Excellence for Military Medicine (MILMED COE) from 18 to 22 February 2013 in Budapest.
13 students and 6 instructors from 9 different nations, namely Cyprus, Czech Republic, France,
Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, Norway, Slovakia and the United States of America, attend
the five-day course.
The aim of the course is to provide students with the appropriate skills to be able to evaluate
medical modules in accordance with current NATO standards and doctrines.
During the first three days of the five-day course, students get familiarized with the theoretical
aspects of medical evaluation through syndicate tasks, such as the AMedP-27 Medical
Evaluation Manual (MEM) and its usage.
On Thursday, they have a live exercise at the Medical Training Centre of the Hungarian Defence
Forces Medical Center, where they have to evaluate a dental, a surgical and a patient evacuation
coordination cell module within the framework of a simulated scenario of a multinational ROLE-
3 Medical Treatment Facility (MTF).
At the end of the course students receive a “NATO medical evaluator" certificate. The
MEDEVAL course is accredited by NATO, as well as by the Semmelweis University and the
National Institute for Quality and Organizational Development in Healthcare and Medicines –
thus granting CME credit points for doctors and nurses.
The next MEDEVAL Course at MILMED COE will take place on 14–18 October 2013.
