Hungarian Accuracy Landing was Worth Gold

The 2018 International Accuracy Landing Competition held between 21-24 August in Szolnok, staged by the Union Européenne des Parachutistes (UEP) – ended.

The results were announced at the awards and closing ceremony in the Hungarian Defence Forces Peace Support Training Centre (HDF PSTC); Hungary 1 could stand on the top of the imaginary podium in accuracy landing, while Captain Gábor Kollár finished as first in individual. This year the right to organise the competition was granted to the Fraternal Association of Hungarian Parachutists (MEBSZ).

“The Hungarian parachuting is ranking very well on European level, so the result achieved was no surprise, you could say, we expected the Hungarians on the podium, and it means a special joy for us that they finished first", Retired Colonel László Keresztúri, the President of the MEBSZ said. The competition took place on the Felső-Szanda Sports Airport along with the Parachuting Competition in Memory of Károly Hüse, where Hungary’s largest number of paratroopers entered, and from them about 30 persons competed in the colours of the European Paratroopers Association.

The UEP is now the union of eleven European countries. In this year’s competition Cyprus and Portugal participated with one team each, Hungary and Poland with two teams each. After jumping out of the plane from an altitude of 1000 meters, and manoeuvring, descending in the air, the competitors had to hit a circle with a diameter of 3 cm to attain the ‘0’ result!
