József Szpisják, Chief of Staff, EUFOR Headquarters to allow the kindergarten children meet the peacekeepers serving in EUFOR positions.
Brig.-Gen. József Szpisják received the group of visitors in the square outside the HQ building decorated with the flags of 19 nations serving in Camp Butmir, Sarajevo. He said he was very pleased to see that people are interested in EUFOR’s activities. “It feels good to know that the local people also feel that we are here to help them, and show interest in us. It is important because we, who serve here in Bosnia-Herzegovina, need feedback in order to know that our activity is important in promoting others’ well-being", he said.
The general emphasized that the soldiers who serve here left their loved ones, grandchildren, family members and friends at home so they can keep peace in Bosnia-Herzegovina and ensure that the children here can have a happy future.
As part of the program, the kindergarten children had opportunity to see some items of military equipment in use with the Hungarian contingent, for example an EOD robot, a CASEVAC motor vehicle and the personal gears.
Currently close to 50 Hungarian soldiers are serving in Bosnia-Hercegovina in individual positions of the EUFOR and NATO Headquarters, and with the 20th rotation of the HDF EUFOR Contingent. In addition, more than 100 military personnel are on standby in Hungary as part of the Intermediate Reserve Force.
