They Have Returned Home From the Cyprus Mission

On Tuesday, April 8 a homecoming ceremony was held at the HDF 86th Szolnok Helicopter Base for 34 soldiers returning from the Hungarian contingent of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP).

They have returned home from the Cyprus mission

“The Cyprus mission is one of the oldest commitments of the Hungarian Defence Forces. We have been participating in peacekeeping tasks on the island since 1993", Brig.-Gen. Zoltán Mihócza, Deputy Chief of Staff, HDF Joint Force Command (HDF JFC) said at the homecoming ceremony.

He added that the Hungarian soldiers have earned and enjoy good reputation in this foreign mission, which still gives them a lot of tasks. While on their tour in the insular country, they exemplarily performed their duties, in cooperation with Hungary’s allies and partner nations.

Tokens of appreciation were awarded at the homecoming ceremony

“You have earned esteem and respect. You have represented Hungarian interests and Hungarian soldiers with outstanding achievements in this peacekeeping mission. Thank you for this." – the deputy chief of staff of the HDF JFC said.

During the ceremony – on behalf of HDF JFC Commander Maj.-Gen. Sándor Fucsku – Brig.-Gen. Mihócza awarded tokens of appreciation to the soldiers returning from Cyprus.
