Altogether 35 Hungarian “blue berets" have started their 12-month tour in different positions of the 39th rotation, stationed on three bases. Most of the Hungarian newcomer soldiers are serving with a multinational (Hungarian–Slovak–Serbian–Ukrainian) peacekeeping battalion in the eastern Sector 4 of the buffer zone that divides the island.

Most peacekeepers of the Hungarian contingent are deployed with the 1st platoon, which is stationed in Camp St. Istvan, Athienou. This unit is tasked with monitoring a more than 70-km long sector.

During the next six weeks, the newcomer peacekeepers will undergo an induction training to obtain their licenses for left-hand drive. Furthermore, while under training, they will also acquire basic-level professional liaison skills, and take courses in crowd and riot control (CRC), flight safety and military medicine.
