In what followed, the officer cadets and the students went to see the military monument in Redipuglia and the Austro-Hungarian cemetery in Folgliano. They laid wreaths at these two memorial places, in commemoration of more than 100,000 fallen soldiers.
While in Verona, the group was guided by Honorary Consul General Dr. Lajos Pintér. After a walk in Basilica San Zeno, the visitors’ next program was war grave care in the Austro-Hungarian cemetery, and then the leaders of the delegations and those of the city wreathed the memorial places of our ancestors.
In the interwar period, the Italian authorities had a huge heroes’ monument built on the mountaintop of 1775 meter-high Monte Grappa, where the mortal remains have been collected of so many soldiers who were killed in action and buried in the area.
On the last leg of the tour, the military officer cadets and the students visited the Francesco Morosini Naval Military School in Venice, where they were introduced to the characteristics of Italian military education.
