The participants of the Asia Tour have returned home from their thousands-kilometer journey. On Sunday, 11 March in the late evening hours, the group of adventurous men driving off-road SUVs arrived in Hungary. On their journey, they negotiated snowdrifts and storms in the inclement Russian winter weather to be able to pay tribute to the memory of Hungarian soldiers who had fought in the Don Bend during World War II.

On 24 February, a 22-man expedition set out for Russia, to visit the site of the Don catastrophe, among others. At the start of their mission, a departure ceremony was held at the HDF vitéz Szurmay Sándor Budapest Garrison Brigade, where MoD Ministerial Commissioner for Tribute Diplomacy Lt.-Gen. (Ret.) Dr. József Holló said farewell to the participants and handed them over the wreath of the Ministry of Defence.

The SUV expedition has completed the two-week mission, the main task of which was to visit the final resting place of soldiers killed in action during the breakthrough at Uryv. In a cold of minus 24 degrees Celsius and a gale-force wind, they laid the wreaths they carried there, including that of the Ministry of Defence.

We will soon publish a report and video on the details of the mission on our website.
