With the opening ceremony, the multinational, medium-short-long range surface-to-air missile tactical exercise – Tobruq Legacy 2018, staged in our homeland, began on Monday, June 4.

Brig.-Gen. Albert Sáfár, the Air Force Chief of HDF Joint Force Command (HDF JFC) welcomed the nearly one thousand soldiers coming from nineteen nations at the “0-Point" Shooting Range. The Brigadier General emphasised that it is a particular pleasure that this exercise has never been conducted with such high attendance and with so many technical equipment yet. He pointed out that air defence is of particular relevance among the security conditions of our times, and that is why it is especially important that the participating nations get familiarised with the technical equipment and fighting methods of each other’s air force.

It is included among the main objectives of the exercise Tobruq Legacy 2018, lasting until June 15 that the nations prepare for their responsibilities resulting from their alliance commitments, and national defence obligations. In addition to practicing the various air defence missile missions, also the planning, organising and implementation of combat activities are practiced by the different air defence leadership levels.

The Visitors’ and VIP day of the exercise takes place on June 14, in the framework of which the invited guests can view static and a dynamic displays.
