Exercise Jewelled Dagger 2 in Kosovo

The soldiers of the KFOR Tactical Reserve Battalion (KTRBN) also participated in the tactical exercise held in Mid-January, jointly with the personnel of the KFOR Multinational Battle Group – East, Multinational Battle Group – West, which was inspected on the spot by Brigadier General Reinhard Ruckenstuhl, the Deputy Commander of KFOR (KFOR DCOM).

The exercise, which was conducted near to Zubin Potok, the north-western part of Kosovo, required an overall and serious international planning by the deployment of the KFOR kinetic units and subunits.

During the combined arms use and the practice of that by the KFOR kinetic forces, the forces of the battalion occupied a staging area, where they installed a forward command post. After having secured the area, they gave over the designated battle area to the forces of the battle groups arriving by air.

They supported the offensive operation by the use of the immediate reaction forces and by medical evacuation (MEDEVAC). After the completion of the tactical task, they commanded, co-ordinated and protected the withdrawal of the forces and the implementation of the marches to the base barracks as a field command.

At the task-evaluation, Brigadier General Ruckenstuhl highlighted the work of the Hungarian contingent, which he assessed as professional and exemplary.
