UNFICYP Medal Parade

The UNFICYP Sector 4 Medal Parade took place recently in Famagusta, Cyprus, where several Hungarian soldiers received the “In the Service of Peace” UNFICYP Medal founded by the UN in 1964.

The recipients of the medals at the event were those Hungarian, Serbian, Slovak and Ukrainian peacekeepers who have served at least 90 consecutive days with the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP). The medals were pinned on the peacekeepers’ uniforms by UNFICYP Force Commander Maj.-Gen. Mohammad Humayun Kabir, Sector Commander Lt.-Col. Jaroslav Marko, Deputy Sector Commander Lt.-Col. Ferenc Kozula, senior officers serving in key positions at the UNFICYP HQ as well as diplomatic representatives of the troop contributing nations. Some soldiers of the sector received letters of commendation from the Force Commander for their outstanding performance.

At the medal parade, the Force Commander thanked the service members of Sector 4 for their work, and congratulated the decorated peacekeepers.
