Medal Parade in Mali

The Medal Parade of the European Union Training Mission (EUTM Mali) was held in the main training base of the international operation, in Koulikoro on Friday, 21st June.

The Commander of the Koulikoro Training Center (KTC), Colonel Christian Schmidt (Bundeswehr) in his festive speech thanked the decorated trainers (peacekeepers) for their selfless service. He commended the high quality of the task-execution of the Hungarian servicemen, and praised their professional preparedness, through which they contribute significantly to the further strengthening of the inner stability of the African country.

From among the Hungarian training personnel Captain László Bárkányi (HDF 59th Szentgyörgyi Dezső Air Base) and Sergeant Major Richárd Bögözi (HDF 64th Boconádi Szabó József Logistics Regiment) took over the EUTM Mali Service Medal from Colonel Schmidt as a recognition of their outstanding work.

The Hungarian Defence Forces (HDF) has been engaged in the EUTM Mali mission since 2013, the Hungarian servicemen carry out their daily tasks in Bamako, in the Headquarters’ staff, and in the Koulikoro Training Centre (KTC). The main task of the servicemen in Koulikoro is the complex training and preparation of the soldiers of the Mali army, through which Hungary contributes to the greater stability of the Sahel zone and of the Republic of Mali within that, which is of key importance from the point of view of Europe.

In the event, besides the Hungarians, the German and the Spanish servicemen also received medals.
