The History of the Zrínyi Miklós Military Academy 1990–1996

This book summarises the last six years’ history of the Zrínyi Miklós Military Academy. The authors outline the great efforts which the staff of the Academy – as worthy inheritors of the achievements of earlier decades – exerted in the interest of the further modernisation of academic education. The publication presents those initiatives, which by the autumn of 1996 created the conditions for the establishment of the national defence university – despite the increasingly deteriorating material-economic circumstances and later the emerging human-existential problems. With the help of the contemporary documents presented on the pages of the book, the readers can trace the increased international interest which had characterised the life of the academy since the beginning of the decade. The obvious objective of the authors is to introduce the readers to the life and work of the many thousand staff members and students of the academy, which finally led to the establishment of the new National University of Public Service. We highly recommend this book to all those who are interested in the history of the Hungarian military higher education.
