The steering board of the Association of Hungarian Reservists (Magyar Tartalékosok Szövetsége, Matasz) held its latest meeting on June 23 in the afternoon. MoD Parliamentary State Secretary Dr. István Simicskó was also present at the meeting that focused on the current role of Matasz in supporting the cause of national defence.

British Guests in Mess Dress Visit MoD MHIM

Administrative State Secretary Receives High-Ranking French Delegation

On June 15 in the morning MoD Administrative State Secretary Lajos Fodor received a French delegation on a visit to Hungary, representing the National Order of the Legion of Honor and the National Order of Merit. Dr. Zoltán Lomnici, the deputy chairman of the Hungarian Association of the French National Order of the Legion of Honor and National Order of Merit was also present at the meeting.

Dr. Csaba Hende Evaluated the Last Year of the MoD and the HDF

At his press conference held on Thursday, June 2 in Hotel Hadik, Budapest, Defence Minister Dr. Csaba Hende summarized and evaluated the last one year of the HDF leadership. The Defence Minister gave a detailed account of corrupt practices in the MoD prior to the change of government, which were revealed after the new leadership had taken office, and listed the most important achievements and future objectives.

The Hungarian Defence Forces Guard the Holy Crown Again

After sixty-six years, the Holy Crown is to be guarded by the Hungarian Defence Forces again. Based on the decision of the Holy Crown Board, the soldiers took over the guard duties of the relic from the Guard Regiment of the Republic at a ceremony held on May 30 in the Dome Hall of the Parliament.

Cyber Security: Challenges and Policies

On May 2 the Ministry of Defence organized an EU Presidency conference on cyberspace security in Stefánia Palace, Budapest, where participants discussed how the international community can tackle cyber threats, as cyberspace have become an independent domain of warfare. The opening speech was delivered by Defence Minister Dr. Csaba Hende.

Renewed Military Film Studio

On March 25 the Defence Minister inaugurated the renewed Military Film and Photo Studio of the MoD Zrínyi Media Co. With its state-of-the-art technology and skilled professionals, the new studio will help the work of the Hungarian Defence Forces.

Another NATO Recognition for Hungary

NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has appointed LTC Dr. Erika Antal chairwoman of the NATO Investment Committee. The lieutenant-colonel will take up her appointment on September 1, 2011, and will be in this highly responsible position for at least two years. LTC Antal told us about her new responsibilities.

Deserved Medals

Double Farewell Ceremony and Name-Giving in Debrecen

The farewell ceremony of the personnel of the 10th ISAF PRT and the 4th KFOR rotations and the naming ceremony of the 39th Infantry Brigade took place on Thursday, February 3 in Debrecen. Defence Minister Dr. Csaba Hende and Dr. Lajos Kósa, the mayor of Debrecen were also present and addressed the troops at the event.
