Second HDF Air Mentor Team Deploys to Kabul

On August 18 Lt-Gen. Tibor Benkõ, Chief, MoD Defence Staff bade farewell to the staff of the HDF 86th Air Mentor Team (HDF AMT) – which is about to rotate into ISAF, Afghanistan – in the community centre of the HDF 86th Szolnok Helicopter Base. The 10-man team is scheduled to commence its tour of duty at KAIA as of August 25, 2010.

MoD Parliamentary State Secretary Dr. István Simicskó ceremonially opened the 11th International Air Show and Military Display on August 7 at the HDF 59th Szentgyörgyi Dezsõ Air Base in Kecskemét. Although initially it was foggy, the first aircraft were cleared for take-off in the morning hours.

The Centre of Excellence will have a department in Munich

New commander to lead the NBC Information Centre

Col. (eng.) János Zelenák, Commander, HDF ‘Artúr Görgei’ NBC Information Centre handed over the division colours on Wednesday at a ceremony held in the HDF LSC’s Storage Base 2, to Lt.Col. (eng.) Gusztáv Micskey, who will take up his appointment on July 1.

Defence minister’s meeting with military attachés

In his presentation Minister of Defence Dr. Csaba Hende mentioned bilateral international relations and Hungary’s participation in missions, among others.

Chairman of NATO’s Military Committee in Hungary

Admiral Giampaolo Di Paola, the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee visited Hungary at the invitation of Lieutenant General Tibor Benkõ, Chief of Defence Staff. The two parties have discussed NATO’s new strategic concept and Hungary’s commitment to missions, among others.

Honouring the nation’s fallen heroes

On Hungarian Heroes’ Memorial Day, the National Funerary Committee and the Ministry of Defence held a commemorative event in Heroes’ Square. László Sólyom, the President of the Republic of Hungary was also present and Minister of Defence Csaba Hende delivered a speech.
