Visegrad Four Working Group To Have Talks In Debrecen

The 31st meeting of the Visegrad Four will be held in Hungary between 3-7 May. On the occasion of the talks of the V4 countries’ working group for human resource management in the military, Mr Zoltán Pajna, the deputy mayor of Debrecen received the Polish, Czech, Slovakian and Hungarian delegations in the city.

National Military Cemetery And Memorial Site In Fiumei Road

Plot 52, the final resting place of deceased servicemen in the Fiumei Road National Graveyard was inaugurated with military honours by the Ministry of Defence as the Central Military Cemetery and Memorial Site. At the event State Secretary Dr. Ágnes Vadai and General László Tömböl also dedicated the new death bell of the plot.

Conference On NATO’s New Strategy

On Thursday, Zrínyi Miklós University of National Defence hosted a conference on NATO’s new strategic concept and Hungary. Speakers included Szilveszter E. Vizi, the Chairman of the Hungarian Atlantic Council, retired General Zoltán Szenes, and security expert Péter Tálas.

They Have Returned, Others Have Said Their Goodbyes: Welcome Back Ceremony In Budapest

In the Operations Centre of the Hungarian Defence Forces those who have recently returned from their tour of duty abroad were greeted on Friday: the Hungarian soldiers and policemen of the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) stationed in the Sinai Peninsula, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), the Western Saharan mission (MINURSO), and the Congolese mission (EUSEC RD CONGO).

An Example Of Cooperation: The 7th PRT Rotation Has Returned

The welcome back ceremony for the 7th rotation of the Provincial Reconstruction Team that has returned from Afghanistan was held on Wednesday in Hódmezõvásárhely. At the event the troops were presented with recognitions and they were awarded medals by the defence minister.

March 15 Celebrated At Zrínyi University

To commemorate the anniversary of the revolution and freedom fight of 1848-49, Zrínyi Miklós University of National Defence held a personnel assembly on March 15, our national holiday. Dr. Imre Szekeres, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Hungary, and General László Tömböl, MoD Chief of Defence Staff also participated in the event.

“They Took Out A Shrapnel The Size Of A Fifty-Forint Coin From My Right Upper Arm”

In February, Captain László Lengyel and contracted Corporal Árpád Ferenc Kovács suffered an RPG attack in Afghanistan. One of them sustained minor injuries, the other soldier was more seriously wounded, but László Lengyel says the incident did not leave a negative mark on their soul. The captain told honvedelem.hu about the attack.

Recognition For Soldiers Wounded In Afghanistan

Defence Minister Imre Szekeres presented the Wound Medal to the two soldiers who were injured in Afghanistan, Captain László Lengyel and contracted Corporal Árpád Ferenc Kovács in the Ministry of Defence.

To celebrate March 15, the Ministry of Defence held a ceremony in the Stefánia Palace, where the functionaries and members of social organizations, associations cooperating with the defence forces were awarded medals and recognitions. MoD State Secretary Dr. Ágnes Vadai was also present at the event.

The Honvéd Dream Team came in fifth on the 2010 Budapest-Bamako off-road rally. Zoltán Bálint, the pilot and his two navigators, Ákos Gazdag and István Barkó, the financial specialist of the MoD have conquered the coast, the rocks and sand dunes, often driving hundreds of kilometres a day. They gave us an account of their experiences.
