“We Are The NATO”

Ágnes Vadai, State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence gave a lecture at Zrínyi Miklós University of National Defence, entitled Some questions in connection with the development of the Hungarian Defence Forces following the NATO accession. The lecture focused on the most important issues concerning the defence forces, and the state secretary also answered the questions of the attendees.

Zrínyi Day: Traditions And Patriotism

The Zrínyi Miklós University of National Defence celebrated the Day of the University with a wreath laying ceremony and colourful programs, and the bust of Maria Ludovika was also inaugurated in the Student Battalion building. State Secretary for Defence Dr. Ágnes Vadai also attended the inaugural ceremony and at the same time, opened the lecture series ‘Patriotism, Love of Your Country, National Defence’.

The EUSEC-RDC, the European Union’s mission assisting the transformation of the security zone, is spending its fifth mandate in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. So far six Hungarian soldiers, among them Colonel Sándor Nagy – according to whom it is a very difficult assignment – have participated in the program the aim of which is to reform the military. Extraordinary Meeting: “We Are Fine, Thank You”

The Honvéd Ensemble held their extraordinary company meeting on Monday. Medals were also awarded during the event: in addition to the prizes awarded to the members of the ensemble, Defence Minister Dr. Imre Szekeres also received a commemorative plaque. Ádám Horváth and László Seregi, the former members of the Honvéd Ensemble were also present at the extraordinary meeting.

“The Greatest Success Is That We Have Found Zoltán Bálint”

The Honvéd Dream Team, that entered the Budapest–Bamako Rally starting on January 16, has had a successful and productive year. Last year the team took part in five championships: with pilot Zoltán Bálint and navigator Barnabás Honfi it was fifth in the absolute evaluation of the national championship, and fourth in its category, and all this in their first season.

Gunfire, Helicopter, And Morning Exercises

Despite the transport difficulties, many people turned up at Zrínyi Miklós University of National Defence (ZMNE) even in the early morning hours to learn more about the faculties and majors: we could often hear gunfire, but those who were interested in the civilian courses were not bored for a minute either.

We Suffered The Fourth Greatest Loss

The program series entitled ‘Remembering Don Heroes’ was launched on December 12 at the Institute and Museum of Military History. As the first stage of the program a commemoration and a wreath-laying ceremony were held on Tuesday, in the framework of which the 1940M Nimród armored vehicle and the 1936M Bofors 40 mm anti-aircraft automatic gun were also presented.

“We Show The Man, The Simple Soldier”

The Institute and Museum of Military History has had a successful year: in addition to the permanent exhibitions, the temporary exhibits were also very popular and the research work of the Institute has produced significant results. We have discussed the issue of military graves, battlefield research, a number of exhibitions organized by the Museum, and some other questions with Director General Dr. József Holló.

Living History: The Oldest Hussar Is 100 Years Old

The oldest hussar, who turned 100 in December, was congratulated on his birthday in the Institute and Museum of Military History. József Bali, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, and retired General Lajos Fodor, the Chairman of the Hungarian Hussar and Equestrian Heritage Society greeted the hussar officer, who was commissioned in 1931.

Where Athletes Find A Home: BHSE Is 60 Years Old

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Budapest Honvéd Sports Association (Budapesti Honvéd Sportegyesület, BHSE) a gala was held in the Stefánia Cultural Centre, where the Immortal Members Award was also presented by the Association.
