Attachés’ Visit to Logistic Regiment

On Tuesday, October 11 the (deputy) military attachés of eleven nations paid a visit to the HDF 64th Boconádi Szabó József Logistic Regiment in Kaposvár. During their stay at the unit the attachés were introduced to the regiment and the town with a historic past.

Paratroops Win Silver Medal at World Cup

The Hungarian Defence Forces’ parachuting team returned home from Brazil on Wednesday, July 27 with a silver medal, due to the second best team in the world. This year teams from 111 countries participated in the 5th Military World Games (MWG) in 19 different sports. The parachutists of the Hungarian Defence Forces came out second after the Italian team, from among the competitors of 34 nations, in the category of Team-Accuracy-Landing.

The Bells Toll for Us at Noon

On Friday, July 22, the Memorial Day of the Nándorfehérvár victory, a thanksgiving Mass was held at the former site of the Saint Adalbert-Blessed Zoltán church. MoD Parliamentary State Secretary Dr. István Simicskó gave a festive address at the event.

Commemoration of the Heroes of the Infantry Regiment of Székesfehérvár

On Monday, July 18 a commemorative event was held in memory of the legendary Royal Hungarian 17th Honvéd Infantry Regiment of Székesfehérvár in the garrison club, Székesfehérvár. At the event Col. (Ret). Elemér Damó’s book entitled ‘Honvéd Officer in World War I’ was also presented. The program continued in the entrance hall of the officers’ club with the unveiling of the statue of the regimental commander. Following that the participants laid wreaths on the memorial of the regiment.

A Restored “Eagle”

A two-seat MiG-15 UTI fighter trainer with Hungarian markings took off again after 36 years. It was the Jet Age Foundation that have purchased the first-generation jet, which was called “Sas” (Eagle) by Hungarian fighter pilots. 25,000 working hours of a +100-member team went into the overhaul of the aircraft during five years of sustained efforts. The fighter is currently on a flight test program at the HDF 86th Szolnok Helicopter Base. The jet engine of the “old timer” fighter was started up on Wednesday, July 13 during a ceremony in the presence of several soldiers, including Maj.-Gen. József Kovács, Commander, HDF Joint Force Command.
