Addressing the personnel serving with the Baltic Air Policing (BAP) mission, he said that “the Hungarian soldiers have constructed a Temporary Security Barrier in South-Western Hungary by the deadline, and they have also fully performed all other duties arising from their core functions. The international commitments, exercises as well as the domestic tasks and evaluations have been or are being conducted according to plans, and their implementation is continuous.
The commander stated that the task execution of the BAP personnel has so far been successful and effective, adding that the scheduled rotation of the contingent went smoothly in early November. He closed his speech by asking the airmen to “do your best in order to enhance the good reputation of the Hungarian Air Force, guard and protect the airspace of the Baltic countries, and after returning home, each of you will be assigned further tasks in Hungary as of January next year."
During the official program, the Hungarian delegation also met the Hungarian intercept controllers in Kaunas. At the end of the visit, Maj.-Gen. Sándor Fucsku summed up his experiences by saying that “Since 1 September, the BAP contingent has flown more than 15 real-life (Alpha) and more than 55 training (Tango) scrambles. In this period, our pilots have flown a total of 270 hours. Their busiest day included eight take-offs with more than 10.5 flight hours. They are performing the tasks in their busy schedule precisely, professionally and efficiently, thereby earning appreciation from NATO.
