This year the German-Hungarian logistic cross-training continued in Kaposvár. The two-week Safety Transport 2019 multinational tactical exercise ended on Wednesday, 27th March with a practical demonstration.

The subunit composed of German and Hungarian transport platoons had just carried out a supply transport on a fictional area of operation (AO), when on the way back the convoy was hit by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The driver of the unfortunate motor vehicle was injured, so in addition to providing break-down assistance, the soldiers of the two nations had to rescue the wounded by appropriate protection and overcoming the attacking persons.

Perhaps all these went smoothly during the exercise, because – as part of the multinational logistic co-operation framework project, taking place at the level of the German-Hungarian logistic support organisations – it is for years, that the transport sub-project has been regularly carried out on the HDF 64th Boconádi Szabó József Logistic Regiment base, from time to time.

The logistic operational, the tactical, the specialized technical, and operator’s skills must be continuously developed, so as the full operational capability (FOC) can achieved by 2023.

To that end, in particular, the technical devices used by the other party should be known on skill-level, and, of course, a joint working procedure should be developed. The latter does not merely apply to supply transport, packing process, but to the provision of technical support, and to the operation of the mutual command and control system.

Approximately forty soldiers participated in the training.
