Hungarian Gripen fighter jets and airmen have arrived at Vidsel Air Base, Sweden to carry out a live-firing missile campaign and air-to-air gunnery there next week. (Report from the spot)

The six JAS–39 Gripens participating in the exercise left the HDF 59th “Dezső Szentgyörgyi" Air Base in the early hours of Friday morning. The pairs of aircraft were followed by an An–26 transport plane which carried the ground crew on board.

The approx. six-hour flight was interrupted with only one landing at Ronneby Air Base, Sweden, where the ground crew refueled the Gripens. They performed hot refueling (HOTREF), which means that they did the refueling with the engines running. Thus it took only 15 minutes for the pairs of aircraft to take off again after the landing.
