The international week of the Command Senior Enlisted Leader Course (CSEL) in Szentendre ended on November 14. The superiors and the participants were equally satisfied with what had been going on in the previous days.

Col. W. Scott Butler, Commandant, NATO School Oberammergau delivered a lecture to the students of the Command Senior Enlisted Leader Course and the command sergeant majors summoned at the HDF NCO Academy, Szentendre in the morning of Friday, November 14. The course is being attended by 18 unit and battalion-level command sergeant majors of the Hungarian Defence Forces, and eight lecturers have arrived from abroad – the United States of America, Germany and Canada – to share lessons learned and knowledge that Hungarian soldiers could not gain anywhere else.

Among the courses organized by the HDF NCO Academy, the ongoing is the second one which is specially tailored to the needs of Hungarian senior enlisted leaders. The international week – which had already been very well received in Hungary and abroad last year – was arranged with the participation of senior enlisted leaders from NATO member countries, so these US, Canadian and German experts helped the students of the course by sharing their knowledge and experience with them.

Following a speech by the commandant of the NATO School Oberammergau, Brig.-Gen. József Szpisják, the commander of the HDF Training and Doctrine Centre closed the international week of the course. In his short speech, he pointed out that the NCO corps constitutes the backbone of the armed forces and the Alliance, adding that similar courses and lifelong learning play a very important role because the knowledge and skills their participants gain on them not only assist them in their career but also strengthen camaraderie, and it is known that well-trained men can perform better both in the theatre and in civilian life.
