Speaking at the medal parade which marked the end of the operational tasks as well, Lt.-Col. Mark D. Federovich, the commander of the Forward Command Post of the NATO Multinational Task Force – East (MNTF-E) said that he had not worked together with Hungarian soldiers before, but the company which arrived from Tata had made a such a positive impression on him that he would be aiming at serving together with Hungarian troops in the future.
The company which has been deployed in Kosovo to increase the troop level of the Hungarian Defence Forces there was flexible, well-trained and professional in all respects, and its members have a wealth of experience in peacekeeping, so every soldier of the MNTF-E, including the Americans, was able to learn from them, the lieutenant-colonel said.
The medal parades held in Pristina and Novo Selo were attended by the Hungarian representatives of the Embassy of Hungary in Kosovo and the EULEX, as well as by the senior national representative. Unlike earlier, the 11th rotation was present with two maneuver companies instead of one in the areas of operations in the Western Balkans. Most members of the contingent were drawn from the HDF 25th Klapka György Infantry Brigade.
From the handover-takeover on their arrival until the end of their six-month tour of duty, the Hungarian peacekeepers were assigned new operational tasks on a daily basis, and they have executed all of them successfully.
