They Have Returned Home From Iraq

In the presence of their family members, friends and colleagues, the members of the Hungarian contingent who recently returned home from Iraq were welcomed at a homecoming ceremony in Hódmezővásárhely. The personnel of the +160-strong contingent were basically drawn from the HDF 5th Bocskai István Infantry Brigade.

“There are no easy-to-perform tasks on a foreign mission, and the members of this homecoming contingent had to meet some really significant challenges. On behalf of Maj.-Gen. Ferenc Korom, Commander, HDF Joint Force Command, I thank you for the work that you have carried out very confidently and at an exemplarily high level, and for your strict performance of your duties during your tour abroad that lasted somewhat longer than scheduled. Please share the knowledge acquired and the lessons learned with your colleagues to help their work! First of all, however, spend your well-deserved paid leave with your families and loved ones. Provide solid support again to the ones whose thoughts have always been with you, giving you strength for meeting everyday challenges!", this was how Brig.-Gen. Sándor said farewell to the soldiers who have returned home from a six-plus-month tour of duty.

In closing the homecoming ceremony, the best ones were thanked individually for their work. In recognition of their outstanding service with the 5th rotation of the HDF Iraqi Training Support Contingent, Brig.-Gen. Sándor presented a number of soldiers with commemoratives, memorial medals and certificates awarded by Minister of Defence Dr. István Simicskó, Chief of Defence General Dr. Tibor Benkő and Maj.-Gen. Ferenc Korom, Commander, HDF Joint Force Command.
