Troops Leaving for Afghanistan Receive Immune Enhancer
Szöveg: László Szűcs | 2012. szeptember 3. 10:52“I am proud that today, through its donation, the Béres Pharmaceuticals Ltd. – a flagship of Hungary’s national industry – gives both material and moral support to the mission of the Hungarian Defence Forces, which is carried out in the interest of humankind as a whole and the Afghan people”, Defence Minister Csaba Hende stressed on Thursday, August 30 in Tata.
“What I have in mind is Sr József Béres’ struggle. As the inventor of the Béres Drops, he had to fight for a long time to benefit Hungary and humankind in health and welfare, and to enable them to live a fuller life", the Minister of Defence said.
“The Hungarian Defence Forces are guided by the very same values. I am proud of our soldiers who serve our national interests far away from the homeland. Deployed in Afghanistan, our troops improve the quality of life of an unfortunate nation that has suffered much, as it has been struggling in the hell of war for more than 30 years", Csaba Hende added.
The Minister of Defence stressed that the Hungarian Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT) has constructed a dozen of schools and hospitals and renovated just as many over recent years. They have built more than 30 clinics and 50 kilometers of road and drilled 41 wells that provide the local residents with healthy drinking water.
The HDF KAIA Force Protection Contingent – which is going to take up its duties at the Kabul International Airport (KAIA) on October 1 – will do a significant job too, because there are no railways in Afghanistan and the public roads are almost untrafficable. At the same time, one of the largest military enterprises in world history is under way in the theatre of Afghanistan, where 130,000 troops from more than 50 nations are being deployed. The KAIA has a role as the central hub for lines of communication used by the very high volume transportations and troop movements.
József Béres handed over the boxes containing the immune-enhancing tablets to Col. László Benda, the commander of the HDF KAIA Force Protection Contingent to deploy to Kabul International Airport and to Col. Antal Sipos, the commander of the next rotation of the HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT-13).
At the end of the event Csaba Hende inspected the static and dynamic displays of the two Hungarian contingents to deploy with the ISAF mission in Afghanistan.
