Head of Mission Elizabeth Spehar and Force Commander Maj.-Gen. Mohammad Humayun Kabir recently paid a visit to the area of responsibility of the 1st platoon in Sector Four, that is, the Hungarian contingent serving with the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP).

The visit took place during the in-theatre training of the members of the Hungarian contingent who commenced their tour of duty in March. The UNFICYP Head of Mission was received by the leaders of the Slovak–Hungarian–Serbian–Ukrainian contingent, together with the military liaison and observers officers and the leaders of the Hungarian platoon.

The superiors started the visit at Patrol Base PB-91, and then proceeded to Camp Szent Istvan in Athineou, where the main forces of the Hungarian platoon are stationed. There, they were shown around the camp and met the servicemen and servicewomen on duty. It is interesting to note that among the troop contributing nations of the mission, the proportion of servicewomen is the highest in the Hungarian contingent.

In what followed, the superiors visited the Agia Marina church in Sector One, near the UN position 107.
