The 15th rotation of the HDF KFOR Contingent (KFOR-15 HUNCON) entered two teams in the Challenge Cup, a sports competition held in mid-September. Like at patrol competitions in Hungary, the participating soldiers had to negotiate a complex course with many tests of stamina.

Altogether 14 teams – including two Hungarian ones – of eight nations entered the sports competition at the base of the KFOR Multinational Task Force West (MNTF-W) in Pec, Kosovo. The event took place in a very good atmosphere, and the participants completed a lot of tasks. The combat fitness challenge for the competitors comprised crawling, carrying “injured" teammates and ammo boxes, and hand-grenade throwing.

The tasks at the next control points included shooting, vehicle push and treating the “wounded", which formed part of a kilometers-long tactical march. Carrying out the various tasks involving skills and stamina not only challenged the soldiers’ individual preparedness but also their team spirit and ability to execute tasks collectively in formations.

Our teams have successfully completed the competition. The main goals were participation, persistence and the development of professional skills and physical stamina. At the closing ceremony, Col. Giovanni Giagheddu, the Italian commander of MNTF-W thanked all nations for their participation in the competition and congratulated the teams on their performance.
