Chief of Defence Visits Slovenia

Gen. Dr. Tibor Benkő, the Chief of the Defence Staff and Brig.-Gen. Dobran Bozic, Slovenian Chief of Defence met in Murska Sobota, Slovenia on November 28. The NCO corps was represented in the delegations by WO1 Igor Tomasic (the senior NCO of the Slovenian armed forces) and WO1 István Kriston, the Command Sergeant Major (CSM) of the Hungarian Defence Forces.

The topics of the closed-door discussion and the plenary talks included the exchange of lessons learned in the reforms of the armed forces and the opportunities of the Smart Defence program, which is being implemented in NATO. The use of the Multinational Land Force – to which both countries contribute elements –, is closely connected with the latter issue.

At the discussions the two partners explored the scope of bilateral cooperation too, as they reviewed the planned future directions in the air policing tasks performed by Hungary as well as in the field of joint training and education.
