Communication Is a Basic Requirement of Command
Szöveg: honvedelem.hu | 2013. február 7. 9:05A perfectly functioning communication system forms the basis of effective and successful operational command.
Force Protection Contingent (HDF KAIA FPC) recently took up a big challenge. As the
contingent is on its first mission abroad, they had to establish the whole communications
network which was needed to assume the duties, and in parallel with that, they had to set up
the computer network as well.
Directing only a handful of specialists, Lt.-Col. P. – who works in a command support
position as commander in Hungary too, and is an expert in planning and organization – has
managed to coordinate the tasks with success. The effective analysis of the lessons learned
during the “in-mission" training in the area of operations was instrumental in achieving this
result.
From early and mid-October on, the cell was largely kept busy by the tasks of fine-tuning
the links to Hungary and the integration of the contingent into the intranet network. The
installation of V-SAT was not a challenge for the personnel of the CIS cell, but considering
the dimensions of the aerial, they needed all hands on deck.
The obligatory piece of equipment at high-level commanders’ conferences, the so-called
Video Telephone Conference system has also been set up. The members of the cell provide
effective assistance for the company with performing its duties in everyday life, whether at
the gates or at the duty stations. They are responsible for the uninterrupted operation of radio
jammers, which are indispensable items of equipment at the entry control points. They help
our soldiers in all CIS-related fields such as maintenance of computers or the updating of the
installed operation system, and they are able to provide effective assistance with the use of
internet as well. They always participate in the preparations for staff meetings, helping to set
up projectors and audio systems.
