French Delegation Visits Győr Unit

Judit Cseszreginé Csekei | 2015. június 10. 15:55Ambassador of the French Republic to Budapest Roland Galharague paid a short visit to the HDF 12th Arrabona SAM Regiment in Győr on June 5. The ambassador was accompanied by Lt.-Col. Christophe Hélouis, French Deputy Attaché to Vienna. The guests were received by Lt.-Col. Tibor Matyi, Chief of Staff of the unit. This was the first time that the French ambassador had visited the Győr unit. The visit was related to the SAM tactical and live fire exercise Tobruq Legacy 2015 to be held in the Czech Republic, in which the regiment will participate from the end of June.
Another reason for the ambassador’s visit was that in the last week of May, representatives of the the French defence industry company MBDA instructed the Győr troops preparing for the multinational exercise, and in early June an officer and an NCO of the French military arrived in Győr for exchange of experience, and they saw a training session in Újdörögd of the MISTRAL platoon getting ready for the live fire exercise.
In his presentation, Lt.-Col. Tibor Matyi talked about the organization, task system and main military equipment of the regiment. He made special mention of the lessons learned in operating the MISTRAL weapons system and described the main phases of the exercise in the Czech Republic.
The program continued with a military technology show and a visit to the unit museum. At the end of his visit, the French ambassador said he hoped that the cooperation in military diplomacy between the two nations would successfully continue in the future, as it serves the interests of both partners.
