Another project has recently been completed in Baghlan Province, Afghanistan. Col. Dr. Romulusz Ruszin, the commander of the 11th contingent of the HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT-11) handed over a new, 13-km section of the Jownaw road at a ceremony on January 21, in the presence of Gen. Asadullah Sherzad, the police chief of Baghlan Province, deputy shura leader Asadullah Shabaz, community leader Mullah Alam and Naoria Hauidi, a provincial shura member.

The construction project of the road connecting the villages Khola Khoja and Chaima-i Sher was funded from the Commander Emergency Response Program (CERP). At present, this is the largest investment in Baghlan Province with a total value of around $1000,000, whose costs were fully covered by the US military. The project was launched at the local people’s request, and the Civil Affairs team of the US military helped its implementation.

The staff of the HUN PRT CIMIC section was closely cooperating with the Civil Affairs team throughout the entire project, so they managed to construct the 13-km gravel road containing 48 culverts in five months.

The inauguration ceremony was organized by the HUN PRT CIMIC team, and the PRT liaison team was in charge of coordination on the spot.

In his speech, Col. Ruszin said the new road would open up further opportunities to travel for the residents of Dahane Ghori District, and its construction strengthens security in the region. On behalf of the local people, the police chief, the deputy shura leader and the community leader said thanks for the road in their speeches, expressing the hope that the HUN PRT will carry on with the projects in Baghlan Province, Afghanistan.
