Ambassadorial Meeting in the Ministry of Defence

Minister of Defence Dr. Tibor Benkő received in his office Dr. Viktória Horváth, the Hungarian Ambassador accredited to Tbilisi, who has performed her duties in Georgia since September 2017.

The meeting focussed particularly on the discussion of the current issues of the Hungarian-Georgian bilateral military-to-military co-operation, highlighting the possibilities of enhancing the professional military support provided for the Georgian Armed Forces (GAF) by the Hungarian Defence Forces, and also the situation of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM Georgia) supported by military observers.

At the end of the consultation they welcomed the Georgian Government’s support for the initiative launched by the Hungarian Government to set up a central military monument in Tbilisi to the memory of the Hungarians, who died in the forced labour camp in the territory of Georgia.
