Defence State Secretary Visited Albania
2019. április 1. 16:31The Defence State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence travelled to Tirana on 28th March. István Szabó visited Albania upon the invitation of the Albanian Minister of Defence, where he met with Ambassador Lóránt Balla in a courtesy visit, and he attended a state ceremony staged on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the country’s NATO accession.
Hungary, otherwise, attaches high priority to the promotion of the EU-accession process of the Western Balkan region, therefore we support that Albania should receive the target date to the official start of the accession negotiations already in this year.
In the third round of the NATO enlargement process, on 1st April, 2009 Albania and Croatia acceded, and in 2017 Montenegro did. With this, the number of the NATO members increased to 29. NATO continues to uphold its “open door policy", that is, it is pleased to see as a member those European Countries, which comply with the accession requirements.
