Minister of Defence Dr. Tibor Benkő Met the Chinese Ambassador

In the meeting Minister of Defence pointed out that the People’s Republic of China is a key partner of Hungary in the Asia-Pacific region, and it is of priority importance to maintain and promote in the future too the relations established and the forms of co-operation developed so far. He highlighted the frequency of the top-level visits and welcomed the starting of the second direct flight in 2019, which provides a superb opportunity to get familiarised with our history and culture.

During the visit, the partners discussed the new global security policy challenges, and the security situation of Europe, also addressing the threats caused by the mass illegal migration. Dr. Tibor Benkő stressed that the Government of Hungary takes great efforts so that Hungary can remain a secure country of Europe by observing the provisions of the Schengen Agreement, in which the Hungarian Defence Forces play a significant role. The Chinese partner praised the Hungarian measures.
