Consisting of ten events per year, the series focuses on a different sport every month, but during the last tryout all team members have to show their stamina, persistence and skills in a range of totally different sports.
The day of challenge started with timed swims. The 2×50 meter relay swim presented every entrant with various difficult situations, so that some of them had to cover the distance in uniform, and others with a 5kg weight plate.
The competition continued with a 100m sprint and a 1500 meter run, followed by a tryout called “Strong men". In this, the team members formed pairs to perform the tasks, which included dips, tractor wheel pull and 20kg bag-carrying.
After this, the gym fitness test included push-ups and sit-ups, and then the competitors completed a 25m progressive shuttle run as a “cool down". The closing team effort event of the day was a tug-of-war.
The daylong excellent performance bore fruit, since the NATO SOUTH was placed third in the overall competition, beating its main rival opponent, the BENELUX-FRANCE team.
At the award ceremony, Lt.-Col. Csaba Csizmadia was presented with the title “Sportsman of the Year", whereas Maj. Eszter Skrinyár was chosen the most successful female “Superstar" competitor.
