Hungarian Troops Are Recognized and Disciplined

“We need well-trained soldiers with adequate professional experience” – Maj.-Gen. László Domján said in Pristina on Wednesday, February 29. The commander of the HDF Joint Force Command paid a visit to the sixth rotation of the HDF KFOR contingent stationed in Camp Slim Lines in the capital of Kosovo.

After his visit to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Maj.-Gen. László Domján arrived in Kosovo on Wednesday, February 29 to pay a visit to the Hungarian peacekeepers serving in the country. Lt.-Col. József Györei, Senior National Representative, Lt.-Col. András Polyák, the commander of the sixth rotation of the HDF KFOR contingent and Béla Hanák, the first secretary of the Hungarian Embassy in Kosovo received the commander of the HDF Joint Force Command at Pristina airport.

Maj.-Gen. Domján met the Hungarian staff officers serving at KFOR HQ, who updated him on the security situation of the region. Lóránt Balla, Hungary’s ambassador to Kosovo also participated in the meeting, and pointed out in his contribution that the Hungarian troops are recognized, disciplined and very professional.

In what followed, the commander of the HDF JFC met with KFOR Commander Maj.-Gen. Erhard Drews, who told him that he was satisfied with the performance that the sixth rotation of the Hungarian contingent delivered at the culmination exercise.

While staying at Camp Slim Lines, where the joint Portuguese–Hungarian KFOR TACRES Maneuver Battalion is stationed, Maj.-Gen. Domján met with Lt.-Col. Paolo Marques, the commander of the battalion. After their meeting, Lt.-Col. András Polyák reported on the sixth rotation’s reaching full operational capability, the tasks that they have executed since the recent transfer of authority and those lying ahead of the Hungarian peacekeepers.

During a tour of the camp, Gen. Domján inspected the Hungarian soldiers’ accommodation and offices, then went to a joint Portuguese–Hungarian static military technology display to see the equipment used by the peacekeepers in executing CRC tasks.

The visit finished with a staff meeting, where the commander of the HDF Joint Force Command informed the Hungarian troops serving in Kosovo about the current domestic affairs. In his speech, the general noted that the Hungarian Defence Forces need well-trained soldiers with adequate professional experience.
