The guests were received by Col. Attila Nagy, the commandant of the Center. He told us that this was the first time that military attachés had visited the HDF HMSC. The commandant emphasized that the Pusztavacs installation had been built in the 1950s and that the characteristic activities of the barracks had changed several times over the past decades.

The installation is special because the 110-hectare area is located literally in the heart of the country, since the geometrical center of Hungary is here, and it is marked by a memorial plaque, the colonel added.

Col. Attila Nagy said that the organization with regimental legal status is assigned to the HDF Joint Force Command. These days it has the main responsibility of supplying all units and affiliated institutions of the Hungarian Defence Forces with fuel, materiel, ordnance and the related technical equipment. In addition, the HDF HMSC receives the waste from live fire exercises such as shell cases/cartridges and wooden ammunition boxes.

After the information briefing, the military attachés went to see an ordnance depot and a special laboratory, and visited the museum of the barracks.
