Meteorologist, colonel, university professor, creator of Hungarian aviation meteorology in practice, Dr. Alfréd Hille was born 120 years ago, on August 14, 1891. For decades, this day has been marked as the day of military meteorology, and on this occasion a festive personnel meeting was held again this year. Col. Eng. László Tóth, the head of HDF GEOS welcomed the guests and read out the greeting letter of Gen. Dr. Tibor Benkő, Chief of Defence, written for the day of military meteorology.

"Meteorological teams assigned to the HDF Geoinformation Service and the HDF Joint Force Command are working in close cooperation and in continuous shift system, with great responsibility and professionalism, to produce meteorological data and weather forecasts for the general and special users of the Hungarian Defence Forces. With their weather forecasts, they help training tasks, preparation for national and NATO training exercises, the safe completion of military flights, but troops serving in missions also receive comprehensive, task-oriented information on the weather outlook. The support of our military meteorologists is vital to the security arrangements of the priority events of the Ministry of Defence and the Hungarian Defence Forces  attracting large crowds, and in situations, which threaten human life or the security of assets"  said the Chief of Defence in his letter.

The meeting of the personnel continued with professional presentations and an awards ceremony, which is already a tradition in the HDF GEOS.
